L-GLUTAMINE IS KING!

With all the supplements out there and so much hype about products that give energy, its no wonder that L-Glutamine has been overlooked.

L-Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body. Stress and intense workouts deplete L-Glutamine stores. When L-Glutamine stores are low there is a corresponding effect on the body and you may feel sluggish and weak. When L-Glutamine stores are optimized there is a positive effect on the body and you may bounce back from hard workouts or stressful situations.

My opinion is we are over caffeinated and stimulated and we are not feeding the body properly. The push from major marketing companies are energy drinks. The major component of most energy drinks is sugar of some type and caffeine of some type. Notice I say “some type” because corn syrup is a sugar and Guarana is a source of caffeine. Don’t be fooled by natural caffeines or sugars, the same stimulation is happening in your body. When you repeatedly stimulate the system you run the risk of taxing the system so it no longer works properly.

THERE IS A REASON DIABETES IS RAMPANT IN THE WORLD AND ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA!

This brings us back to L-Glutamine, a thoroughly researched amino acid that has been tested clinically and in athletes from many different sports.

Resulting L-Glutamine research shows a wealth of clinical evidence showing the positive effects it has on the body. On top of that there are very little negatives, side effects or reasons not to ingest L-Glutamine. It also helps with the protein utilization and has shown anti-catabolic properties in the body. Anti-catabolic is good because you body is sparing muscle tissue and you don’t lose hard earned muscle gains.

It seems to me after working with world class and serious athletes from many different sports, you are better off staying away from caffeinated sugar water, instead eating for performance and supplementing smart. L-Glutamine just may give you the extra energy you need by nourishing your body in a positive way. Giving your body the nutrients you need to create energy and muscle is much more valuable than stimulating the adrenal system with a blast of caffeine or spiking insulin with a jolt of sugar.

Use L-Glutamine wisely. About 5g after workouts is a good baseline dose. Those in very intense training take 5g more about an hour before bedtime. Mix with 4-6 oz of milk or protein powder if muscle and size is the goal. Mix with 4-6 oz of water to maintain body weight and boost recovery.

L-Glutamine is King and protein is Queen. Together you have a muscle building kingdom!!

TOM BRADY HAS A SECRET WEAPON

Tom Brady is amazing! Never panics. Never tries to do it himself. He trusts his teammates and trusts himself and continues to maximize his potential and win. Tom Brady has a secret weapon and it’s not a rifle arm or 4.4 speed… its his mind.

Tom Brady, like Joe Montana, wasn’t born with tremendous physical gifts like John Elway or Vince Young. Tom Brady has a distinct advantage over most Quarterbacks and its called THE MENTAL EDGE. He wasn’t born with the edge, he developed it, and so can you.

How did Tom Brady get THE MENTAL EDGE? He did Mental Edge Training Exercises and applied them to his skill set and goals. Its one thing to read my book, “The Mental Edge”, its a whole other thing to diligently do the exercises and apply them to your sport. Tom Brady is diligent and very eager to learn. He didn’t just read or hear about visualization he actually takes the time to see and feel himself running successful plays.

You can have Brady’s secret weapon. Its going to take a little time and you must do it repeatedly. There is no quick fix or wonder words that are going to make you a great athlete. Carlos Pena, Tampa Bay Devil Rays hit 46 homeruns this year after he started training with me three years ago. After our first session he hit a homerun and a single and thought he had it figured out only to slide back into bad habits. Only after Carlos Pena went back to Mental Edge Training and made a commitment to Mental Edge Training did he have the breakout year of his dreams.

Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Carlos Pena are a few athletes that have excelled because of Mental Edge Training. You can join this elite group by taking your training to the next level. Contact me for one-on-one training or sign up for a workshop. You have a better performance just waiting to breakout. I have seen it over and over again. My Mental Edge Training works!

MIKE CAMERON, ANOTHER TAINTED SUPPLEMENT?

Here we go again. Another professional athlete saying, “I didn’t do it! It was a tainted supplement”! I would love to see the supplement industry start suing athletes for defamation. This excuse has run its course. Eas and BioDynamax have had CERTIFIED SUPPLEMENTS FOR YEARS NOW.

If you are going to take supplements why run the risk of failing a drug test by taking some off brand? If a product makes claims about energy and uses any type of stimulant, herbal or otherwise, you run the risk of failing a drug test. If it says its natural it doesn’t guarantee anything. Marijuana is natural! Look what it’s done for Ricky Williams.

The truth is if you are going to take supplements the risk of a tainted supplement is about 15% according to one study conducted by the USOC. 15% of all supplements tested were inaccurately labeled and/or would cause an athelete to fail a drug test. With that in mind, did Mike Cameron take a tainted supplement? Nobody knows for sure because the supplement is all gone. I guess he or his agent could have purchased another one from the company and had it tested, but what if it wasn’t tainted, NOW WHAT EXCUSE?

I am not sure about EAS but BioDynamax keeps enough product from each batch made to adequately test if a claim is ever made. BioDynamax third party program secures a sample of all product batches and we also keep a supple on hand. If any testing issue comes up we can prove our product is not to blame.

Any athlete taking supplements can rest assured that the vast majority of products are safe and accurate. Why take a chance on any product when you can have the CERTIFICATION OF BIODYNAMAX AND EAS?

The athletes blaiming the supplements are hurting the industry and tainting the minds of fans and parents of young athletes. Supplemnets are not bad. Supplements are not the enemy. In my opinion Agents and PR people that need to put a spin on cheaters getting caught are the enemy. They should be forced to show some facts. How convenient to blame a supplement then say, “its all gone”!

I don’t know if Mike Cameron took a tainted suplement or not. I do know Rafael Palmero tested positive after denouncing steroid use. I do know that many athletes that turned out to be blatant cheaters denied cheating. Mike Cameron or any other athelete that tests positive has nobody else to blame except themselves. If you took a supplement that caused a positive test its not the supplements fault, its your fault. You didn’t do your homework. Don’t buy off brands or great deals in the back of magazines or websites. Understand that some supplement manufacturers are importing product from China and other countries notorious for tainted products. Some supplement companies in America are run by overseas conglomerates and are used to import foreign products to the USA. They will bottle or formulate in USA and then make the claim “made in the USA” but all ingredients are from overseas. If its a real cheap price its probably a real cheap product with foreign ingredients. Stay away from any type of GH enhancer or energy drink or pill that you feel right away. True energy comes from components the body needs to make and extend energy, carbohydrates, vitamins, certain amino acids, minerals and such. You feel it in the sense of lasting longer not feeling buzzed or going from a low to real fast high. Stimulation is not energy! Stimulation allows you to use energy you already possess and then some. The problem is it also stimulates the Adrenals and has a negative impact on Insulin and Blood Glucose. Stimulation from caffeine, natural or not, and Herbal combinations is only borrowing tomorrows energy for today. The result is you always run an energy deficit.

Athletes need good nutrition and smart supplementation to counter the stress of professional seasons that are getting longer and longer.

No more excuses! Do it right. Stop looking for shortcuts. If you are going to use supplements use EAS AND BIODYNAMAX and you have nothing to worry about.

MICHA BURDEN CHAMPION!

About a year ago I received a phone call from a little known Open Water Swimmer named Micha Burden. She had read my book, “The Mental Edge” (Putnam) and wanted to do some mental training with me. We met and I felt this little dynamo had something special. Despite her soft voice and quiet demeanor I could tell she had a real fire inside to be her best. I had no idea at the time, that this former Cal Bear swimmer, a girl with average times and no reputation in Open Water Swimming to speak of, could come so far in such a short period of time.

Micha shocked USA Open Water Swimming with her amazing victory at the U.S. National Open Water Championship. She shocked the best swimmers in America and in the world because she did everything right.

Shortly after we started Mental Edge Training she asked me to put her on a physical training program. I created a program especially for her and she did it as close to perfection in attitude and action as anyone I have ever trained. This girl is amazingly tough and determined.

Once I realized her commitment to physical training, we put together a nutrition program especially for her. She followed it perfectly. It was strict but reasonable and got more strict as she peaked for the USA Open Water Championship.

She ate right—She thought right—She trained right—She beat the odds through perfection of effort.

Micha willingly did things she had never done before, some bizarre and ultra intense physical training combined with cutting edge sports psychology. It was different and she was different as a result. She experienced “realized potential” and personified my philosophy of Eat, Think and Train Like a Champion.

Of all the World Champions, Professional Athletes and Olympic Medal Winners I have trained, Micha Burden is as special as any of them. In many ways she stands out from all the rest because of the odds against her. She did this on her own. No corporate sponsor. No major league contract. No financial support from USA Swimming. This was not a teenage wonderkid living at home with wealthy parents and people fawning over her. This girl did it the hard way, working odd jobs, renting rooms and putting in 7 hour training days.

Micha Burden is a champion because she willingly paid the price. She is living testimony that great things can happen when you dream big and follow through.

Corporate America needs to wake up and sign this girl! She is beautiful, well spoken and has a smile that lights up a room!

Nike get to her before someone else beats you to her!
